Choosing Well
How to choose an LED mirror
Five decisions, clearly explained. Ten minutes here saves a return later.
Round or rectangular?
A round mirror softens hard lines, suits pedestal basins and makes compact rooms feel larger. A rectangular mirror maximises reflection above wide vanities and double basins. Neither is "better" — match the mirror to the lines of your room.
What size do I need?
Measure your basin or vanity width first — your mirror should match it or sit slightly inside it.
- Cloakrooms & en-suites: HALO 50cm, or GLOW 45×60cm
- Standard vanity (~60cm): HALO 60cm, or GLOW 50×70cm
- Wide vanities & family bathrooms: HALO 80cm, or GLOW 80×60cm landscape
- Bedrooms & dressing rooms: AURA LIFE, positioned at eye level
Colour temperatures, explained
Every AURA bathroom mirror switches between three colour temperatures at a touch:
- 3000K Warm — soft, golden light for relaxed evenings and ambience
- 4000K Natural — closest to daylight; the most accurate for make-up
- 6000K Cool White — crisp, bright light for shaving and detail work
Long-press the sensor to dim steplessly; the GLOW also remembers your last setting.
IP ratings: what IP54 actually means
An IP rating scores protection against solids (first digit) and water (second digit). IP54 means the mirror's electronics are sealed against dust and protected from water splashing from any direction — the right standard for positioning directly above a basin, where steam and splashes happen daily. Every AURA bathroom mirror is IP54 rated.
Plug-in or hardwired?
Plug-in uses the included 1150mm cord with a nearby socket — quick, DIY-friendly, renter-friendly. Hardwiring connects the mirror to a fused spur inside the wall for a completely cable-free finish; we recommend a qualified electrician. Every AURA mirror supports both.

The Details
Deeper questions, answered
What does an LED mirror cost to run?
Very little — LED strips draw a fraction of the power of halogen lighting and are rated for 30,000+ hours, roughly a decade of daily use, with no bulbs to replace.
Does the light flicker when dimmed?
No — AURA mirrors use a constant-brightness chip, so illumination stays steady and flicker-free at any dim level.
Which light is best for make-up?
4000K natural daylight gives the most colour-accurate result — what you see in the mirror is what daylight will show. The wrap-around glow of a backlit mirror also removes the harsh shadows a ceiling light casts.
Can I fit an LED mirror directly above my basin?
Yes — above-basin positioning is exactly what the IP54-rated GLOW and HALO are designed for. Mount with the included fixings and choose plug-in or hardwired power.
